Troop 651 goes on monthly outings to camp for one or two nights. We also attend one summer camp (usually five to six nights) and one or more high adventure outings. In the past, these high adventure outings have included trips to Joshua Tree NP to go rock climbing, to go canoeing the lower Colorado river, as well as to other destinations like Zion NP in Utah. Among the monthly outings, the troop does activities including:
And more! Since the troop is boy-led, the activities the troop undertakes are only limited to your imagination. For example, in 2023 the troop sent a contingent to the National Jamboree in Bechtel, WV
But the troop is not only about fun. We take our community involvement seriously too. The troop is chartered through the Lion's Club of San Marcos and conducts regular service events like trash pickups, Eagle service projects, and more. We help out various service organizations in the community when called upon, including the Moose, the Elk, the Kiwanis, and of course the Lions. On Memorial day, the troop can be found at the San Marcos cemetery, helping the local VFW chapter place flags on veterans' gravesites. We promote civic pride through trail cleanups. We connect with our youth with our community through service and leadership.
